CANNED SARDINES (IN VEGETABLE OIL) SPECIFICATIONS

1. SPECIFICATIONS:

General Description: The sardines are produced from fresh or frozen fish fit for human consumption. They have an odor, flavor, and texture characteristic of sardines and are packed in clear, refined, edible vegetable oil, free from objectionable odors, flavors, or textures.

2. HYGIENE:

  • Free from micro-organisms capable of developing under normal storage conditions.
  • Does not contain substances harmful to health in accordance with Codex standards.
  • Free from container integrity defects that may compromise the hermetic seal.

3. PACKING:

Canned sardines are packed in 125 g tin cans as primary packaging, and in cartons for transport and storage. The cans must be hermetically sealed, commercially sterile, made of internationally approved materials, and scored for easy opening.

Expiry Date: Minimum 24 months from the date of delivery.

4. STORING:

Canned sardines shall be stored under cool, dry, and hygienic conditions.

The sardines are produced from fresh or frozen fish fit for human consumption, with the characteristic odor, taste, and texture of good-quality sardines.

Refined, clear, edible vegetable oil is used, free from objectionable odor, flavor, and texture.

No water is added to the canned sardines as per specification.

The product has a minimum shelf life of 24 months from the date of delivery under proper storage conditions.
